“There is a 50 percent chance that anything can happen, at any time. It will either happen, or it will not. I can walk down the street, and find a 5 dollar bill on the floor, or I will not. I will go to work, and get fired, or I will not. I will go to work, find a 5 dollar bill on the floor, and get fired, or I will not. The scenarios are only limited by imagination.
The scenarios can be pieced together in any way, shape, or form. What it boils down to is this; the string of scenarios, infinite in number, all have as equal of a chance of materializing as dying in an alien attack from Neptune. The alien attack, in theory, is just as likely as finding a 5 dollar bill on the street. It will either happen, or it will not.
Throw probability, percentages, trends and all other forms of data out the window. While the former are all tools to use in deciding whether or not an activity is deemed as “safe” to participate in, they are all used to shield the fact that I am faced with a 50 percent chance that I might not make it home at the end of the day in one piece.
